Clear and compelling messaging makes the difference when communicating who you are and what you offer. Words on paper, on a website, or on the vows you speak on your wedding day represent your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Your message comes alive and delivers with intent.

It is more than just words on paper and images on the internet. It is personal. I hope you enjoy the blog posts and learn more about the written word and how it can best speak for you and your business.

Serendipity- a finding by chance.

Dec 4, 2019

What does serendipity mean?

Just the word makes me smile. Serendipity is a meeting, event, or discovery by chance or accident. Unlike fate that may be predetermined, serendipity is purely unexpected…and wonderful.

When you have spare time, grab some popcorn and watch the movie Serendipity staring Kate Beckinsale, John Cusack, and Jeremy Piven. It is a feel good movie with some beautifully inspiring quotes.

“Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather, it’s a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan.” – JEREMY PIVEN as Dean Kansky

Well said.

What is the origin of the word serendipity?

According to Merriam-Webster:

“In the mid-1700s, English author Horace Walpole stumbled upon an interesting tidbit of information while researching a coat of arms. In a letter to his friend Horace Mann he wrote: “This discovery indeed is almost of that kind which I call Serendipity, a very expressive word, which as I have nothing better to tell you, I shall endeavor to explain to you: you will understand it better by the derivation than by the definition. I once read a silly fairy tale, called ‘The Three Princes of Serendip’: as their highnesses traveled, they were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things they were not in quest of….” Walpole’s memory of the tale (which, as it turns out, was not quite accurate) gave serendipity the meaning it retains to this day.”

What does serendipity have to do with me and my business?

Plenty. This is the time of year when we may have a pocket or two of down time and we look back at the year finishing up behind us, and ahead towards the hopefulness of the coming year. We revisit our processes and procedures; our tools of the trade, and our business brand and image.

Recently, we attended a Chamber of Commerce meeting and quite serendipitous, we met a business owner looking for a website and brand face lift.  At that same meeting, we met a local bank’s newly appointed branch manager and discussed LinkedIn and the value of a robust and current profile.  Coincidence, fate, or serendipity? You decide.

Looking for a little serendipity?

We thought you might be. If you are in or around the Capital Region of New York and would like to chat in person with us over a cup of coffee, we would love to meet.

If you are not local to us, it’s ok. We can set a time for a coffee chat by phone and see where our friend serendipity may take us.
