Time to get up and move.
Working from home can be challenging and to those of you that are experiencing this for the first time, let me share some truths with you.
Truth: Flex your muscles and your brain at the same time. I have always kept hand weights and bands in my home office. When I get anxious, I use them to clear my head and get out of my chair. It would not be unheard of to take a run/walk at lunchtime. Getting out makes sure I do not pace/run/walk to the kitchen!
Truth: Your kitchen is perilously close to you and snacks are calling your name. Look them in the eye and say, “NO.” Keep treats in your office and make a beeline to the fruits in your fridge.
Truth: You know you have junk in your office or the closet in that spare room you are now using as an office. Get rid of it! Clean it up.! Bring in a candle and create a happy work place. I have plants, a candle, my pug Izzy, and a comfy chair. I have emails saved in a folder that says, ‘read later.’ I have been setting aside 20 minutes or so to peruse through them and you know what? There are great tips in there!
You may be remote, but you do not have to stay alone.
I am so fortunate to have a pack, a squad, a community to lean on while working from home. Friends and even competitors reaching out and just chatting about the mundane. Kids home learning, the change from an empty nest to a full nest, reinventing ourselves and our businesses. Zoom and GoToMeeting are offering great programs to keep you connected. Try them out.
I am always up for a chat and a cup of Joe.
I am usually at my desk early attempting to keep some semblance of normalcy. Routines are important and keeping or tweaking a routine is critical, in my opinion. Here’e how to find me:
- My email is klombardo@putanotherway.com
- Phone number is 518.280.6650
- Drift is available on my website so you can go there and start a conversation.
No excuses, OK? Hope to hear from you and please share comments so we can all learn from each other.
Karen
